Passionate about Hospitality

Our country pub and restaurant is family-owned and run. In the midst of the pandemic, I bought the pub with my son Sam and opened in the third lockdown.

Three years on, and we are proud to be named Pub of the Year 2024 in the East of England, as well as being awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand and 3 AA Rosettes in the same year.

Moira Edwards
Owner

Starting out in hospitality at Le Talbooth in Dedham, Moira has a wealth of experience within the industry - from tea rooms, London wine bars and country pubs to Michelin-starred restaurants and corporate hospitality. She loves hosting dinner parties, spending time with friends and long country walks.

Abbie has always had a passion for hospitality. After completing her degree in Hotel Management at the Edge Hotel School (where she also met Sam), she went on to be part of the management team for the reopening of Adnam's Swan Hotel in Southwold. So, if you need advice on our selection of beers, then Abbie is your girl! Abbie and Sam recently became parents to baby Theo.

They say dogs are everyone's best friend. And that's certainly the case with our black labrador, Toby. He will always be here to give you a warm welcome, and if a cuddle or two is on the cards, he will happily oblige.

We welcome dogs in the restaurant. Please just let us know when you book, so we can ensure you are seated in the dog-friendly areas.

General Manager

Sam was destined for a life in hospitality. Joining a prestigious London bank as barista at the age of 16, he then gained his BA in Hotel Management, and went on to be the 1st graduate at Hilton London Bankside. Before opening the pub, he was Restaurant Manager at Galvin Green Man.

For Josh, food is synonymous with family. Growing up, the family enjoyed home-cooked meals prepared by his Mum (Toad-in-the Hole was his favourite). His grandfather was a butcher and still makes sausages and burgers at the age of 85. Josh has worked at a number of prestigious restaurants, including Plate in London, Down Hall and Flitch of Bacon in Dunmow.

Jo Harris
Marketing & PR

Jo has worked in the industry since the age of 13, culminating as Group Operations Manager and Communications & Events Manager for HIX restaurants, which is where she met Moira. She was also Business Development Consultant for Wright Bros. Now working freelance, Jo manages all social media, marketing and PR for the pub.
